Terrapin Tuesdays

LBI’s Native Terrapins

The Field Station is partnered with Project Terrapin, a local non-profit organization dedicated to researching & protecting LBI’s endangered Diamondback Terrapins.

Join us and Project Terrapin volunteers to learn about these native turtles and the ongoing conservation efforts to save them. We will have research presentations, a tour of our terrapin lab facilities, and a peek at our hatcheries where we keep the eggs. You may get to see some baby turtles! This program is great for all ages!

Tuesdays June 25 – Aug 20, 10:00-11:00am.

Please register, 30 spots available per session.

Help us Out!

Later in the summer, we look for Terrapin Watch Volunteers! They are responsible for keeping an eye on our hatcheries to make sure we don’t miss any baby turtles. Once they hatch, it’s crucial that we know right away to give them the proper care. Anyone can be a volunteer, so look out for the opportunity!
