In late May, Project Terrapin’s John Wnek and students from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science in Manahawkin installed a diamondback terrapin hatchery on the grounds of the Long Beach Township Field Station in Holgate. A number of volunteers were then trained for “turtle watch,” and helped out during the species’ nesting and hatching seasons.
