The oyster reef tank has been put into winter nap mode until the 2024 season starts. Stockton Aquarium and Aquaculture Club students buttoned it up tight! More oyster reef displays next summer!
Photos from the NJBII field trip a few weeks ago! This crowd got to enjoy kayaking and a lovely buffet from @qcmarketlbi, as well as say goodbye to the last of the hatchlings at our facility this year 😊. The NJ Bay Island Initiative began in 2020, and is a collective of agencies from across the state that are engaged in protecting and restoring bay islands. These islands are essential to LBI's coastal resilience and thriving wildlife. Important projects are in the works! #collectiveaction #bayisland #coastalrestoration #coastalprotection
We had a nice visit from some of the neighborhood turtle Angels that had hosted terrapin conservation efforts at their properties- Bette Della Torre, Chuck and Ann Henry, and Michele Budd. Bette volunteered to use her yard for a hatchery in 2014 after she attended a presentation by Terrapin Nesting Project's founder, Kathy Lacey. Until 2020, all of the hatchlings that hatched from eggs that were placed in that hatchery by Chuck and Michele, were cared for in the Henry's garage. The biggest thank you to these four! We love to see help for our terrapins within the community. Keep on with conservation! 💚💚 #terrapins #communityimpact
